Welcome to Open Strings June 20th - 29th 2008
Open Strings 2008 is a cello masterclass which aims to stimulate and inspire the progress of young striving professionals and academy students. For the fifth time the masterclass takes place at Frederiksdal Manor on the island of Lolland 180 km south of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Open Strings 2008 will comprise four teachers as well as an accompanist. During the course students will receive a total of six lessons in an open masterclass forum. Each lesson is of 60 minutes and can be attended by all students. Each student will be taught by all four teachers and is therefore expected to prepare a minimum of four different pieces or movements for the masterclass.
Depending on availability students in need of piano accompaniment can work with the accompanist.
Interested students can participate in Cello Ensemble led by prof. Valter Despalj.
The course includes both student and teacher concerts.
Frederiksdal is not an institution but a private home. Participants will be part of everyday life on the estate and will be treated to a personal, healthy and varied cooking. The rooms each have their own character, size and view. The house opens up to an extensive private park 15 minutes walk from the sea.
